Water Walk
Hosted by: Keene State College
About Water Walk
People in Africa and Asia who need to collect water for their families walk an average of 6 kilometers a day with containers weighing upwards of 40lbs. Many of these people are women and young children, and the water they collect is often contaminated. How are their lives affected? The hours they walk to collect water each day might otherwise be spent in school, working, or taking care of their families. Contaminated water puts their health, and sometimes lives at risk. Providing a community with clean water can reduce related illness and death, improve gender equality, stabilize food supplies, and so much more.
Join the Community Service Office for our first ever Water Walk on October 2, 2015 at 12pm on the Student Center Lawn. Join us to explore the effects of the Water Crisis, experience the difficulties of having to walk to collect water every day, and learn about ways you can help. Your attention is necessary for the future of this problem because change doesn't happen to communities, it happens with them.
We hope to see you there. Please direct any questions to
