About JA Day at Giese Elementary School

Have you thought abut volunteering but weren't quit sure? Get involved with an organization with proven results that impact our youth. You can make a difference!

JA Day programming creates an opportunity for area businesses and/or individual volunteers to impact hundreds of students' lives by spending one day in a local elementary school. Volunteer participants serve as role models, sharing experiences and information while leading Junior Achievement programming. Through JA's experiential, hands-on programs, student participants learn entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy.

IMPLEMENTATION OVERVIEW

JA staff works to select an appropriate school and plans the event.

Business are encouraged to secure associates as volunteers (in teams of 2) for the event.

A 1-hour JA program orientation is conducted by Junior Achievement one week prior to the event (either as a planned meeting or an extended lunch period at the company).

Program materials are provided at the orientation and the participants have an opportunity to ask questions and address concerns.

Volunteers will need time to review and ready materials for classroom.

Volunteers arrive at the school at the beginning of the volunteer day (shifts may vary in start and end times) and conduct four hands-on activities with a classroom of students. Our time shifts are 3-4 hours in duration.

BUSINESS COMMITMENT AND INVOLVEMENT (Individuals are welcome to volunteer without a company affiliation)

Have fun! (Not optional!)
