About Volunteer for Jewish Family Service

Volunteers have always been the heart and soul of JFS, and one of the main ways we can make our services available to so many people in our community. We have many gratifying opportunities to volunteer. Here’s how you can help:

Kosher Meals on Wheels (KMOW)
For over 30 years, The Edward Teddy Cohen KMOW program has provided nutritious meals to older adults. The KMOW program needs volunteers on a regular schedule or on an as-needed basis, to pack meals and deliver them within the community. Some homebound recipients find this an opportunity to chat for a few minutes, their only personal contact for days at a time. Volunteers not only bring food, but also warm smiles, friendly visits and a sense of independence and security.

Two’s Company
The Moses “Buzz” Rosenberg Two’s Company Program needs individuals or families to volunteer their time with homebound adults in the community. Volunteers provide services that help these individuals to remain independent, such as grocery shopping, errands and transportation to medical appointments. Volunteers also make friendly visits and phone calls, which allow them to monitor the client’s physical and mental health, as well as monitoring the home for safety issues. No medical, emergency care, or hygiene services are provided.

Holiday Food Program
Help us deliver tasty holiday treats to nursing homes, assisted living facilities and continuing care communities.

Centerpieces for Tzedakah
Help prepare our beautiful baskets that are admired at special occasions around the community.

Office Support
Volunteers are needed throughout the year to assist with the day-to-day operations of the agency such as preparing mailings and other clerical tasks.
