About Special Event Volunteer

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Special Event Volunteers are the backbones the days of event work responsibilities. They assist the Staff in event execution and logistics ensuring events are presented with the mindfulness and integrity of the Japanese Friendship Gardens standards. They present a positive public image while working Special Events.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Special Event Volunteers are accountable to the Volunteer Coordinator, the Executive Director, the Executive Board, and Staff Members that are responsible for them day of. They will arrive early and sign in and out to track volunteer hours. Special Event Volunteers will attend an orientation and keep current with Garden changes/events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Volunteers will have a welcoming personality and physical stamina to spend outdoor time in the Garden. Some positions will require the physical ability to assist in setup and teardown activities. Ability to attend approximately 1 event a month.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Greet visitors cordially and provide assistance
● Special Event Assistance (asneed)
● Assist in setup and teardown
● Monitor the Garden path for safety issues, alert staff as needed
● Scanning Visitor Tickets
● Tea Service (preparation and serving)
● Tabling and Outreach (membership and volunteer sign ups)
● Thank all visitors for coming to the Japanese Friendship Garden
