About Gardening Volunteer
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Gardener Volunteers are responsible for maintaining the pristine conditions of the Japanese Friendship Garden. They work within traditional Japanese Gardening methodology.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Gardening Volunteers are accountable to the Volunteer Coordinator, the Executive Director, the Executive Board, and The Garden Curator. They will arrive early and sign in and out to track volunteer hours. Gardener Volunteers will attend an orientation and keep current with Garden changes/events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Volunteers will have a welcoming personality and physical stamina to spend outdoor time in the Garden. Multiple levels of physical stamina are required from raking to composting. Weekly commitment for Saturday mornings.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Light: raking, weeding, picking up trash, etc.
● Medium: thinning bamboo, edging honeysuckle, etc.
● Heavy: planting, digging, cutting out dead stumps, turning compost, wheelbarrowing, etc
● Time: every Saturday morning, varying depending on season.
