About Ambassador Volunteer
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Ambassador Volunteers enhance visitor experience by answering questions and giving directions. They present a positive public image while walking the Garden path.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Ambassador Volunteers are accountable to the Volunteer Coordinator, the Executive Director, and the Executive Board. They will arrive early and sign in and out to track volunteer hours. Ambassadors will attend an orientation and keep current with Garden changes/events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ambassadors will have a welcoming personality and physical stamina to spend outdoor time in the Garden for a three-hour shift at least once each week. During the first six months, each ambassador will attend a Docent-led tour.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Greet visitors cordially and provide assistance
● Explain Garden rules of etiquette and behavior
● Keep café/seating area clean (wipe tables)*
● Monitor the Garden path for safety issues/ Alert Staff of issues
● Check all public areas including restrooms
● Remind visitors of 4:00 pm closing time and help clear at closing
● Thank all visitors for coming to the Japanese Friendship Garden
