Job Description

We’re a young nonprofit fueled by innovation, passion, and the inspiration to help promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning. We need a motivated, talented, and social media-savvy intern to help us develop and implement our social networking strategy.

You won’t be pouring coffee or shuffling papers here, but you will be challenged every day. You are guaranteed to walk away with an unforgettable experience and a ton of new skills. Plus, you will leave with a wealth of hands-on experience, recommendation letters, a polished resume, a cover letter and a LinkedIn profile, along with insider knowledge on nonprofit branding.

Key tasks:
• Increase our presence across social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat through posts related to Informed by Nature work and STEM-relevant conversations.
• Stay abreast of STEM-related news, conversations, and controversies and engage Informed by Nature in the discussion.
• Produce monthly reports that highlight major topics and Informed by Nature involvement.
• Contribute to our online content through articles and e-newsletters, as well as uploading incredible science media.
• Research and identify key social media influencers and engage with them through our accounts.
• Help organize and plan focused campaigns and grow our following.
• Assist in additional marketing and research projects.

About Informed by Nature

Informed by Nature (IBN) is a 501(c)3 non profit organization working to advanced the public understanding and appreciation of science. We are dedicated to encouraging lifelong learning, promoting critical thinking, and celebrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

We carry out our mission in two key ways:

1) making accessible engaging and innovative online science content;

2) providing a suite of educational programs for pre-University students to becoming involved in STEM learning

• Familiarity and facility with multiple social media tools should be evidenced by an established presence on various platforms.
• Candidate should be a self-starter who works equally well on his/her own and in a team, sharing ideas and concepts and then implementing them.
• Excellent writing skills suited to blogs, posts, tweets, and the like.
• An affinity for all things science is a plus, but anyone with the skills and passion for marketing can apply!
• Work at least 10 hours per week from home with bi-weekly meetings in our office


Schedule:

Average Time Commitment: one semester (spring,summer,fall)
