About History of Science Timeline
Volunteers will contribute to The History of Science Timeline through our organization's online portal and volunteers' efforts will significantly help to raise science awareness. Volunteers will make a meaningful contribution to the growth of our website over the course of their time commitment with Informed by Nature by researching, developing, and uploading new content for our Timeline. http://informedbynature.org/grdates/index/
Volunteers will research events, people, materials, inventions, principles and process, all relevant to science. Once their research is completed and they have confirmed that their chosen entry is not already on the Timeline, they will write and compile photos/videos for their entry. Volunteers can chose to have their first entry reviewed by the Coordinator, then login with the provided admin username and password, upload their entry, review it on the website and correct any possible error or glitches.
Volunteers can upload additional entries at their convenience and contact Informed by Nature with any questions. Informed by Nature performs periodic review and comments as well as support to volunteers throughout the process.

Uploading Instructions for History of Science Timeline
Step 1 - Navigating
a. Log in at: http://informedbynature.org/adminlogin
b. Main menu Manage Learn Items Manage Great Dates View Books Add Great Dates
Step 2 - Fields to be Completed
a. Date: the Date as it will appear on the timeline
b. Title: the title that appears on the timeline (try to keep this from being too long)
c. Description: the summary of 1‐2 paragraphs about the person or event
d. Upload Logo: upload the image that will appear on the timeline from your hard drive
e. Upload Home Image: upload the larger image that appears once opening the entry
f. Upload Video: click on “Embed code”
To embed from YouTube, go to the video and click “Share” below the video. Choose 480x360 size and Click on “Embed” and copy the code that appears. Paste this code in the Upload Video field.
g. Date for Sorting: the date that will be used to place the entry on the timeline; type 1352 for 1352CE (AD) and ‐353 for 353BCE (BC)
Add Additional Photos
a. Return to the table of entries
b. Click “Add Photo” under the “Add Options” for the entry in question.
c. On the next screen, click “Select Link” in the upper right‐hand corner and select “Add Great Dates Image”
d. Upload Image: upload image from your hard drive
e. Sort Description: brief description of image content and meaning
Add Additional Links’
a. Return to the table of entries. Click “Add Learn More” under the “Add Options” for the
entry in question.
b. On the next screen, click “Select Link” in the upper right‐hand corner and select “Add Great
Dates Learn More”
c. Title: Name of URL that will be click-able
d. URL: Address for the link that will not appear
e. Sort Description: brief, one‐line description of the URL
f. Repeat for multiple links.
