About Produce Pickup and Sorting

The produce pickup volunteer is responsible for picking up produce from local grocery stores that have been so kind as to donate to Indraloka. Currently, produce is picked up from Wegmans in Dickson City. This job is needed Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings and requires the volunteer to have a larger vehicle, such as an SUV or truck to carry large amounts of produce to the sanctuary. Produce is very important to the animals, and they are very thankful to anyone who is able to help them! This volunteer may also choose to sort the produce as well, but if all you can do is pick up, that is greatly appreciated!

Produce sorting volunteers are responsible for sorting and prepping the produce for the animals. This includes simple sorting of each fruit and vegetable into groups, sorting out the rotten produce, cutting up produce, and removing stickers. This volunteer also helps break down boxes and sort packaging for recycling. This volunteer may also pick up the produce from local grocery stores, but must sign up under that volunteer project as well.
