About Volunteer!

As a nonprofit organization, the Humane Society or Cowlitz County relies on volunteers to help care for the animals we serve and to help with activities and events.

Volunteers help with every aspect of our organization, whether it’s walking and training the dogs, doing laundry, public education, socializing cats and kittens, running adoption events, or serving on our board of directors. Without our volunteers, we would not be able to fulfill our mission.

Application Process

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend an informational volunteer orientation, where you will learn about our programs, volunteer opportunities, highest needs, policies, scheduling, and other important information when considering volunteering with us. It’s a way to estimate if HSCC sounds like a good fit for you. See the orientation schedule below and sign up for a date that works for you. Volunteer Applications are only available to those who attend.

We hold weekday orientations on the first Monday of each month and on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding holidays). Saturday orientations are typically held one weekend a month.
