Giving Day 2017

Changing the life trajectory for low-income students.

A fundraising campaign for Horizons Albuquerque

What We Believe  Horizons Albuquerque envisions a future where every child in New Mexico is fully engaged academically and confident in his or her ability to pursue their dreams. Our mission, then, is to improve life opportunities for low income children of New Mexico by addressing the academic achievement gap. We do this by combating summer learning loss—the well-researched phenomenon of low-income students losing ground over the summer if not engaged in learning activities.

How We Make A Difference  Students attend the program in the summer for six weeks, followed by additional support throughout the year. And because Horizons is a data driven program, we know that for the last three years, students have made three to four month gains in their reading and math by being a part of Horizons Albuquerque. Families, too, are more engaged in their child's education.

How You Can Help   Horizons Albuquerque is a tuition free program and relies on the community for support. We began in the summer of 2014 on Bosque School’s campus with 48 Albuquerque Public Schools [APS] students going into 2nd through 4th grades and this summer will enroll 112 APS students from kindergarten though 6th grade attending summer programs at two sites - Bosque School and Manzano Day School. Our growth and impact is only possible with your help.
