About LINC (Linking Internationals in the Community)

Would you like to help international students becomes more familiar with our culture? And would you like to learn more about theirs as well?

The LINC Program pairs international students with local families, mentors, and students in the local Starkville community who will help the students explore U.S. culture, Mississippi State, and the Starkville Area. The Holmes Culutral Diversity Center plans a LINC-Endorsed event each semester to unite international students with their families and mentors. In addition, we encourage monthly meetings to reinforce multicultural awareness and cultural sharing.

LINC families and mentors are asked to meet once per month with your international student for one academic year (September through April), to attend the Welcome event in September to meet your mentee, to participate in at least one LINC-Endorsed event planned by the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center event each semester, and to show our students you care.

This is a year-long commitment beginning in September 2017 and running until April 2018. Volunteering is flexible; you and your mentee can choose to meet at times that work for both of your schedules.
