About Prayer Blankets

Handmade blankets for Hoffmann Hospice patients. Prayers or blessings are offered as each stitch is made in the blanket. The blankets are Blessed after they are completed. The person that is wrapped in the blanket is wrapped in prayer and support from you.

Prayer Blanket Directions
Please offer prayer or blessings for the patient who will receive the blanket you are making.
Supplies:
• 2 Yards Plain Color Fleece
• 2 Yards Patterned Fleece
• Sharp Sewing scissors or rotary cutter
• 2 Inches Square Template
Please be sure to include a prayer – see samples below.

Sample Prayers:
This blanket was handmade by ______________. As it was created, we prayed for you. We ask God to
give you blessings of courage, strength, healing, peace, comfort, joy and hope. As you wrap this blanket
around you, may you feel God’s arms embracing you. May this blanket always be a reminder of how
much you are loved.
From (Name)

We, the members of _________________, pray that this blanket provides you comfort and a reminder
that God also wraps you in His love. We pray that God will bless you. We pray that God will fill you with peace and hope. Amen.

Directions:
1. Layout your fleece on top of each other. Smooth out wrinkles and match up edges as best you can.
2. Trim any rough edges.
3. Using your 2 inch square template, place on
corner and cut out. Do this on
all four corners.
4. Start cutting a four inch strip
along the edge. These are 1
1/4 inch strips.
5. After you cut the four inch strips, fold them up.
6. Take the two strips and tie together to form a knot
7. Continue down the row with each strip until all 4 sides of the blanket are complete.
