About "Riverfront Mansions and Lakeside Landmarks" Walking Tour

Discover the architectural treasurers, lush landscapes, and fascinating history of upper Front Street, Italian Lake and the elegant "Academy Manor" neighborhood during Historic Harrisburg's guided walking tour on Saturday, April 14, from 10 AM to noon.
Architectural historian David Morrison and Historic Harrisburg Association Executive Director John Campbell will guide sightseers through one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Pennsylvania. Framed by the Susquehanna River, the old Harrisburg Academy campus (now Dixon University Center), Italian Lake Park, and the the stupendous Zembo Shrine Temple, Harrisburg's Academy Manor neighborhood rivals Philadelphia's legendary "Main Line" and will be at peak springtime beauty.
See the mansions visited by Eleanor Roosevelt, Burgess Meredith and other notables, and hear the tale of the nude female sculptures that scandalized Milton S. Hershey.
The cost is $5 for HHA members and $10 for all others, payable on arrival. Meet at 10 AM on the ground of Dixon University Center, 2986 North Second Street.
