About Us

Mandated by Congress in 1971, the National AHEC program now represents more than 300 AHEC program offices and centers that serve over 85% of United States counties.

​High Sierra Area Health Education Center is a federally and state funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to serving under-served and rural population of Northwestern Nevada in collaboration with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the Office of Statewide Initiatives.

​The primary mission of High Sierra AHEC is to:

Development a current & future pipeline of qualified healthcare workers for Nevada

Develop & enhance education and training within community based organizations and academic institutions

Provide health and wellness information to the citizens of the communities we serve
