Mandated by Congress in 1971, the National AHEC program now represents more than 300 AHEC program offices and centers that serve over 85% of United States counties.
High Sierra Area Health Education Center is a federally and state funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to serving under-served and rural population of Northwestern Nevada in collaboration with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the Office of Statewide Initiatives.
The primary mission of High Sierra AHEC is to:
Development a current & future pipeline of qualified healthcare workers for Nevada
Develop & enhance education and training within community based organizations and academic institutions
Provide health and wellness information to the citizens of the communities we serve
