About Working with Teens and Young adults with Disabilities at a community center

Helping Hands Respite Care offers this fun, rewarding, challenging and stimulating opportunity to make a difference as a volunteer in the life of a young adult or teen. The program takes place at the Gier Community Center (About 3 miles east north east of campus) on 2400 Hall Rd in Lansing. We have trained care providers but not enough hands to help with all the tasks and activities we want to allow our young adults to do. The center has a gym, game room, art room, dance room and is situated on 37 acres. Your volunteering would help assure that the young adults participating in our program would have the best day possible. We specifically are in need of volunteers for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

Helping Hands during Holiday Season

December 21, 2015 12:00am January 1, 2016 12:00am
This task is filled or completed
There is always a need for volunteers at several of our agency’s programs BUT during the attendees’ at BBT’s school break from Dec. 21 – Jan. 1 many families need additional support or they have to take time off work to stay with their child. So, if you are available during December 21st through Jan 1st you could make a huge impact in the lives of our families looking for this “extra care” while these teens and young adults with special needs are out of school over the holiday season.
If you are interested and would love to volunteer whether during this time, or in the near future, please contact:
Elizabeth Krumm at 517-372-6671 ext.104 or e-mail at [email protected]
