Cemetery Cleanup Yale Day of Service
Hosted by: Hebrew Burial & Free Loan Association of New Haven
About Cemetery Cleanup Yale Day of Service
We are going to clean and repair our cemeteries!
Hebrew Burial & Free Loan Association of New Haven (HBFLANH) and the Yale Alumni Club of New Haven are teaming up to clean-up our cemeteries for the Yale Day of Service on Sunday, May 19, from 11 - 3pm. You do not need a Yale affiliation to register.
We will be raising sunken stones, photographing grave markers, repairing stones, and helping to ensure that the people buried here are treated with respect.
There will be light tasks, as well as ones for getting dirty.
It might be a little warm, so please dress appropriately. Water will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring reusable water containers, as well as their own lunch or snack if desired.
HBFLANH provides free loans, and free burial plots to needy Jews in the New Haven Area. We maintain two Jewish Cemeteries in East Haven with over 900 graves.
Feel free to message us with any questions. You can also find contact info on our website www.hbflanh.org
This is a Yale Sustainability Green Certified Event - ask us about how to lessen the environmental impact of our activities (including carbon offsets), or if you are interested in car pooling or alternative transportation.
Family-Friendly
Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
