About Wheels for Wildlife: Rescue Drivers

We receive sick and injured animals from throughout the state and are looking for individuals on all islands to assist with wildlife rescue missions by joining our volunteer ground transport team. When we receive a call about a sick or injured animal we put the call out to our rescue team to see who is available to transport the animal to the HWC, the airport, or to a veterinary partner. Whether you accept the mission is completely dependent on your availability and location. Animal handling experience is helpful, but not necessary as the bird will be contained inside a carrier.

Wheels for Wildlife Volunteers are asked to assist us in the following ways (1) Transport an injured native bird to HWC or to a Rescue Partner: We may ask you to meet up with the person who found the injured bird or have you transport the bird between Rescue Partners. The bird will already be prepped for transport upon pickup. (2) Airport Pick-up/Drop-off: You may be asked to pick-up or drop-off bird at the airport for inter-island travel. The bird will be in a carrier and you will be given specific airport and flight instructions.
