About "Love Your Neighborhood" Russell

Habitat for Humanity’s “Love Your Neighborhood” initiative focuses on community development and exterior home repairs through partnerships with homeowners and community groups. This work supports homeowners in disadvantaged neighborhoods, strengthening and uplifting the dynamic between individual pride, community engagement and neighborhood livability by creating a safer and healthier environment.

The Love Your Neighborhood initiative selects a boundary area in a neighborhood where homeowners are invited to participate with volunteers in exterior home repair projects such as porch or ramp repair, landscaping, fence repair, gutter repair, painting, etc. We will also organize a Neighborhood Beautification. The Beautification will include clearing out brush and fence rows in alley ways and making improvements to a community park and/or garden. The event will also include an art component. Volunteers will paint/plant/deliver flower pots to the residents in the area.

Lunch will be provided to the volunteers and residents. Community stakeholders will set up tables to showcase programs and neighborhood assets.
