We are the local United Way agency serving Caledonia, Essex, Orleans, Orange, and Washington Counties of Vermont. It is our belief that by harnessing the giving power of the people in our region, we can increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another and improve the overall quality of life in the communities we serve through a process called Collective Impact. As a leader in the community, we work to bring together organizations, businesses, schools, government and individuals to create new ways to solve community problems through the power of collaborative partnerships. Our initiative areas of impact are Health, Education, Financial Stability, and Community Caring which encompasses Volunteerism and support of Basic Needs.
We operate programs that bring resources to people who need them most in our region including Tatum's Totes backpack program for foster children, serving the Barre, Newport and St. Johnsbury Department for Children and Families District, and Working Bridges, which matches low-to-moderate wage workers with support and resources needed to stay out of poverty, stay employed, and advance, proactively ending the cycle of poverty for working families.
