About CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteer

CASA Volunteers are trained community volunteers appointed by judges to advocate for abused, neglected, and dependent children in Graves, Carlisle, Fulton, and Hickman Counties. CASA provides impartial advocacy. A CASA volunteer personally visits the child and speaks to everyone involved, including parents, foster parents, case workers, teachers, and service providers. After reviewing all records and attending meetings and court hearings, the CASA considers the facts of the case, reports findings, and makes recommendations to the judge about what is in the best interest of the child. Volunteers stay involved with each child until that child is placed in a safe, permanent home.
Application Process
Interested individuals should complete the application online at www.casagravesswky.org. Applicants will engage in a screening process that includes an interview and reference checks, and must successfully pass background checks. Successful candidates engage in a minimum of 30 hours of pre-service training prior to receiving a case and are asked to commit to at least one year of services.
