About VITA Volunteer Tax Preparers

Volunteers are available at tax sites to prepare returns for free for individuals earning less than $55,000 for a family and $22,000 for individuals. The purpose of the program is to make sure that people are receiving all of the tax credits they are entitled to, with the goal of helping families and individuals become more financially stable.

This experience may be used for an internship or other requirement. It is a great resume builder!

Volunteer hours are flexible and available during the day, evening, or weekend. We ask that volunteers sign up for one shift a week, which is about 4 hours on average.

Application Process

NO PRIOR TAX EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! Free training provided to teach volunteers how to complete tax returns. Training can be completed self paced online or in a classroom setting.
