About Volunteer Your Voice: Public Relations Specialist

Not all animal sanctuaries are created equal. Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) has a mission to promote and support sanctuaries that have met a high set of standards of care and sustainability. We provide sanctuary accreditation, rescue support, and provide a voice for displaced equine, wildlife (including avian) and farm animal sanctuaries nationally and internationally. The Public Relations Specialist will assist in the development, coordination and implementation of publicity campaigns for the GFAS.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
--Assist in the planning and implementation of publicity campaigns/promotional strategies, with primary responsibilities as publicity liaison for GFAS, and special projects as assigned
--Target and maintain productive relationships with a broad range of media contacts
--Prepare, edit and distribute press releases, media alerts and other press correspondence based on GFAS activities and current events
--Respond to requests for information from media outlets and tour presenters and arrange interviews as needed
--Regular strategy meetings with executive director

Job Requirements:
Skills/Qualifications:
--Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and sense of initiative
--Detail oriented and organized in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
--Ability to work in fast-paced environment, both independently and with others, in a positive manner
--Willingness to donate a minimum 5 hours per week

Experience/Education:
--Bachelor’s degree
--Experience with public relations and marketing
--Animal welfare/advocacy background a plus
