As co-owner of Red Newt Cellars and the driving force behind its acclaimed Bistro, Chef Deb Whiting was a beloved instructor in 171’s culinary series when she died suddenly this past year. In her honor, 171 has teamed with Red Newt Cellars and Red Newt Bistro’s new Executive Chef, Brud Holland, to present a special culinary event supporting one of Deb’s favorite causes - the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. All proceeds from this culinary demonstration, lunch and wine tasting will go directly to the Food Bank in support of its enormous efforts to end local and regional hunger. From fresh, locally-sourced salads to decadent cheesecakes, Deb’s culinary influence lives on during this special morning of great food for a great cause.
