ReUse Community Fund

Helping community members in times of crisis.

A fundraising campaign for Finger Lakes ReUse, Inc.

When our neighbors are facing crises, we want to make our resources fully available.

We are committed to improving the quality of life here in Tompkins County by finding new ways to relieve poverty and hardship through waste reduction. We are able to carry out this work thanks to the support of the community, and every dollar we earn through our sales and service fees goes directly into our programming and operating costs. We price our items at 50-90% below retail value to make them as affordable as possible, but we know that in times of crisis even the lowest-cost items can be out of financial reach.

In the last two years, we received two or three requests for material donations from community members each week. As we opened our second location, these requests continue to increase.

We want to be able to grant every request made by community members in need. With your donations, we can achieve this goal together.

Through the ReUse Community Fund, we will make grants in the form of store credit to people with demonstrated need so that they can purchase the essential goods and services we offer. Community members will be able to access ReUse Community Fund grants through referrals from partnering human service agencies.

We've set a goal of $2,500 to continue the ReUse Community Fund -- these funds would help us grant vouchers to up to 50 recipients facing emergency situations including extreme poverty, illness, damage from storms, and other crises.

Every donation made to the ReUse Community Fund will go directly toward these vouchers for community members in times of need. Help us launch this essential program by making a contribution to the ReUse Community Fund during Giving is Gorges on May 4, 2016.
