About Fenner Nature Center Apple Butter Festival
Calling All Volunteers!
True or False: Fenner Nature Center’s Apple Butter Festival requires over 20 volunteers each shift.
True or False: Anyone can volunteer!
Answer: both of these statements are true. We need lots of help to make our festivals fun and safe for the thousands of visitors that attend our annual Apple Butter Festival. Volunteer assignments come in all shapes and forms. Volunteers who prefer physical work provide the bulk of our set-up and tear-down for artisan and info booths, music stage, and signage, as well as stirring the apple butter kettle during the week for hundreds of school-age children and through the festival. Volunteers with a creative streak are needed for the intensely popular face-painting booth and pumpkin carving station. Volunteers who like to take center stage would be great candidates to help lead school tours from 10/5-10/9 or to welcome visitors to the festival. Additional volunteer tasks include: parking assistance, volunteer check-in, shuttle, apple butter sales, and refreshments.
Shifts are generally 2 ½ hours between 8:30am and 7:30pm. Weekday stirring, peeling, and tour leading shifts are flexible in length depending on your schedule between the hours of 8:30am and 3pm.
