About Child Volunteer
The Family Strengthening Program encompasses the whole family in building Five Protective Factors that are known to help families thrive. The Protective Factors include social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, social and emotional competencies of children, knowing about concrete support in times of need, and parental resiliency.
In person: The Children’s Education Volunteer supports the Family Strengthening Program on a weekly basis for consistency for the families. The Children’s Education Volunteer ensures that participating children remain safe and comfortable during class time; volunteers may implement and facilitate curriculum for different ages during group. The youth curriculum is trauma-informed and achieves healthy relationships through constructive play, interactive activities, and reading time.
Virtual: Virtual Child Volunteers will create activities for parent to complete with their children. The activities will focus on the weekly topic that parents are learning about. Volunteers will record an articulate video showing how to complete the activity.
