About Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program Volunteer
CASA Guardian ad Litem are volunteers appointed by the court to work for the best interest of abused or neglected children involved in the child protection system. Guardian ad Litem, or GALs, are a party to the case and conduct an independent investigation related to the child, and report their findings to the court. The GALs sole purpose is to advocate for the best interest of the child and are often the only constant person in the child's life while they are in the child protection system. The experience of the GAL can be emotional and challenging. Judges in child protection rely on information from the GAL when making their decisions and the positive impact the GAL has on the child's life is immense.
