About Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is one of the largest substance abuse prevention campaigns in the country. Its focus is to prevent substance abuse by educating youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The dates for Red Ribbon Week are October 26th through the 30th.

DREAM of Hattiesburg, Inc. coordinates Red Ribbon Week activities for many of the schools in the Hattiesburg region. This year, we will reach schools in Hattiesburg Public School District, Petal School District, and Lamar County School District. In total, we will reach over 3,000 students in grades 2nd through 6th.

In order to reach such a large number of students, we rely on volunteers to assist in delivering brief presentations to small groups and classes. Volunteers will not need to create their own presentations or rely on their own knowledge. The DREAM staff will provide all necessary resources, including speaking guides. To accomplish this, we will hold three training sessions. Volunteers only need to attend one of these sessions. The dates are as follows:

Monday, October 12th at 4:00 PM
Wednesday, October 14th at 2:00 PM
Wednesday, October 14th at 6:00 PM

We will have a detailed scheduled of classes at the training. This is when you will be able to sign up for specific times and dates during the week.

Please contact me if you would like to volunteer and sign up for a training session. Thanks for your help!
