therapeutic horseback riding, "Gracie" Literacy Project, social skills program, summer camp, equine assisted learning, PATH member center
Dream a Dream Therapeutic Horsemanship began out of a love of horses and to share that love to empower those with disabilities to lead more functional and independent lives. Horses possess a unique synergy and help to foster confidence, build strength and support individuals with special needs in achieving their full potential through interactions with these magnificent creatures.
In 2007, Dream a Dream’s Founder and Executive Director, Brenda McCall, became a certified PATH instructor and DaDTH was born. Working in the public school sector as an aide and teacher in special education, Brenda truly understood the needs of individuals with disabilities and specifically the need to exposure to various adaptive activities to foster not only new skills, but access to new environments and opportunities to expand social skills. As a horse lover and equestrian since the age of 3, Brenda knew just what relationships with horses can do for one’ s mind, spirit and body and she wanted to be able to share that with those with special needs, in particular those with autism and behavior issues.
Dream a Dream will be celebrating 13 years of service to our community in 2020! DaDTH is committed to making a difference in the lives of those with special needs and fostering their growth and Independence. Now with a waiting list and registration for their annual summer camp program at an all time high, DaDTH is looking to add staff members to help with instruction and support the literacy project and the equine assisted learning program. At present, DaDTH is an ALL VOLUNTEER program and every penny raised goes back into operations.
We have two big dreams we are working towards: a round pen and a covered arena. Beyond the day to day operational costs to keep our herd at its best, we plan to add these items when funds are raised to help improve the quality of our program. Won't you join us in sharing our dream of helping others through horses. We can't thank you enough for your consideration of our program. Many thanks and hope to see you at the barn soon!
