DownCity Design is a non-profit community design organization that empowers people to strengthen their communities, using the tools of design. Our free design education programs train youth to become changemakers by inviting them to create interventions that respond creatively to challenges and opportunities in their communities. Since our founding in 2009, over 2000 youth have together designed and built 80+ amenities for public spaces in and around Providence, including creative play structures for parks, outdoor classrooms for schools, community gardens, and more. In 2019, DCD was named Afterschool Program of the Year by the RI Afterschool Network.

- Lesleyann, DCD Alumn & Teaching Assistant
“DownCity Design helped me realize I have great skills in being a leader, public speaking and making connections with people.”
