About Us

DeSoto Family Theatre (DFT)seeks to provide entertainment appropriate for the entire family while offering opportunities for participation and education in the art of theater for DeSoto County and the surrounding Community. DFT is dedicated to creating an artistic process that strives to enrich the lives of individuals, families, and the community by creating a working and performing environment that incorporates Godly principles and is positive, uplifting, and wholesome.

DFT has volunteer opportunities available all of the time. Volunteers are needed to help with preparation for shows, backstage work, ushers for shows, and more. Contact us today to find out how you can be a part of DFT.

Description:
Even though our name has changed, our commitment is the same. Area youth are cast in our productions, as are moms, dads, and grandparents. We have entire families who act, sing, dance, or contribute backstage in other capacities.

Each year, DFT conducts Summer Theatre Camps for children and youth. Our camps are structured to develop appreciation and talent for theater arts, team work, and presentation skills. Even though not all children may pursue theatre arts as a career, we strongly believe the confidence gained and skills learned will impact them for the rest of their lives.

DFT has volunteer opportunities available all of the time. Volunteers are needed to help with preparation for shows, backstage work, ushers for shows, and more. Contact us today to find out how you can be a part of DFT.

History:
DFT is a non-profit community theater organization dedicated to providing high quality family-oriented theatre arts opportunities to DeSoto and surrounding counties. These opportunities include but are not limited to attending or participating in one of our productions.
DFT was originally founded as DeSoto Youth Theatre in 2000 to provide our area youth with the opportunity to pursue theatre arts at the local level. We changed our name to DeSoto Family Theatre to better reflect the fact that our productions are designed to be appropriate for the entire family.

DFT has volunteer opportunities available all of the time. Volunteers are needed to help with preparation for shows, backstage work, ushers for shows, and more. Contact us today to find out how you can be a part of DFT.
