About Conservation Kids Camp June 6-10

Hello Friends!

For the past two summers DeSoto County Soil & Water has partnered with DeSoto County Greenways to host a Conservation Kids Camp at Arkabutla Lake.

In the past we have had speakers come and talk to the children about different environmental subjects. This year we would like to have a more hands on approach. We would like to incorporate Environmental STEM activities into the week, along with our conservation message.

We have 4 - 45 minute sessions each day that will have different STEM/hands on activities that relate to the theme of each session. The kids rotate in small groups to each station. Morning talk, Snack time and Daily Recap in between.

This is where we need your help! We need 2-3 "teachers" at each station to educate the kids on the lesson at hand and how this applies to their everyday life. We will provide all materials and lessons. We welcome any suggestions on environmental lessons that you have worked with in the past and think would be a good addition to the camp! (Conservation and interactive)

Kids Conservation Camp is June 6th-10th
Arkabutla Lake, Dub Patton
1st-5th grade
Starts promptly at 8am-Noon (check-in is 7:30-8)
$50 registration
50 kids

A Volunteer meeting will be held in May (date TBD) to go over lessons, materials/supplies and to have a little fun before we have another great camp!

Please share with your fellow volunteer and/or"teacher" friends about this FUN camp!

Please let us know if you and your volunteer groups would be willing to assist us this year. We look forward to hearing back from you and hope to work with you this summer!!
