Join the team! Fill out an application online and start volunteering with us while having fun with our four-legged friends.

Delta Humane Society SPCA depends on our dedicated volunteers to help care for our homeless animals. Volunteers are the backbone of happy dogs and cats at the shelter. Join us, and you’ll receive lots of love from our animals, head-butts from our cats, and tail wagging from our dogs!

Requirements:

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer independently.
Teens can volunteer if a legal guardian is present.
Volunteers must be able to read and comprehend directions given.

Application Process

Applications can be found on our website, www,deltahumanesociety.org in the volunteer tab. Processing can take up to 3-5 days for a callback. All volunteers must attend our Volunteer Orientation, where they will learn our safety policies, rules, and have a tour of the shelter.

Photographer/Photographer’s Assistant

The photography team works together to photograph all of our animals in the facility. Assistants will help bring animals from their kennels to the photographer.

Volunteers (1/3)

Fort Dog Assistant

In the fort dog, volunteers will be assisting staff with their daily routines, such as cleaning kennels, prepping meet and greet rooms, and making enrichment items. Volunteers will also socialize with dogs by reading with them, petting them, or playing with toys.

Volunteers (1/10)

Offsite Events

Volunteers will go to select offsite adoption locations and help the public with any questions they have and also help facilitate meet and greets between animals.

Community Outreach (block walking / Healthy Pets healthy streets)

A team assembles with staff to walk to educate and enhance the community’s awareness of responsible pet ownership and promote spay and neuter initiatives.

Cat Castle Assistant

In the cat castle, volunteers will be assisting staff with their daily routines, such as cleaning kennels, prepping meet and greet rooms, and making enrichment items. Volunteers will also socialize with cats by reading with them, petting them, or playing with toys.

Photographer/Photographer’s Assistant
