At Cultura Quilombo, we believe that art and culture can be used as tools to address local social issues such as gender inequality or violence. We are looking for creative people who ideally have a particular skill which they would like to contribute to the projects and create new projects around. Any sort of skills are welcome- painters, dancers, singers, musicians, photographers, videographers, writers, poets, actors- anything which you think could make for an interesting contribution!
Examples of projects that are currently being organised is the setting-up of an independent online radio station which invites local people to come and discuss issues, events and music without governmental intervention. Another project is the Mocambo Sala de Ensayos project, of which the goal is to bring local music artists together to share knowledge and gain new skills from for example the volunteers that come here. Such skills include instrumental knowledge as well as how to best manage and market a band and how to put on good performances.
We are very open to any ideas that they have and we will help in designing and managing the execution of the projects. Ideally, volunteers will speak at least basic Spanish and if they desire, we can organise for Spanish classes when they are here. We can also organise other exciting classes such as capoeira or salsa dancing, and help plan fun weekend trips.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a CV/resume or short description of your interests and experience. This is just so that we can plan ahead for your arrival and think how to best place you in the organisation. If desired, we can organise a Skype session in order for you to meet the people that work here beforehand and ask any questions you may have in person. Otherwise, please send us an email or phone us at +50585971596 or +50522222375 for further information.
