About Camp After Dark

CIS After Dark is a night of science and fun. Each event will highlight a different thematic topic – from evolution to sex – and visitors will have the opportunity to explore the museum after dark. They will meet imaginative scientists, artists, thinkers, and tinkerers. Volunteers will assist with live demonstrations, engaging activities, and more. This is much more than the field trips you knew growing up. Old friends and new are welcome to explore science in an invigorating setting at CIS After Dark.

Camp After Dark will encourage our guest to relive their summer camp days when they were kids through fun activities and crafts, but also revisit nature through camping today as adults as they educate themselves about areas they can visit in the state of Michigan.

Volunteers will be asked to help facilitate craft tables and activity tables(e.g. Owl Pellets, boat races, watermelon spitting contest, and paper airplanes). Science knowledge is not a must as training will be given to volunteers. Volunteers may also be asked to help with way finding.

The shift is from 6pm-11:15pm (arriving 1 hour prior to event start time for orientation and training, staying 15 minutes over for any clean up needed). Check in will be at the front desk.

Volunteers must be 21+ to assist with our activities. They must bring the following completed Emergency Contact form with them the evening they are volunteering. http://science.cranbrook.edu/sites/default/files/Emergency%20Contact%20Info%20Form.pdf
