Annual Giving

Moving bikes under people starts with you.

A fundraising campaign for Corvallis Bicycle Collective

Every dollar you give does good for bicycling.

  • Free use of tools, bike stands and guidance at our DIY community bike shop.
  • Bicycle education series during National Bike Month every May.
  • Empowerment Bucks - shop vouchers good for parts. Distributed via social service agencies to people with limited means and urgent bicycling transportation needs.
  • Ask-a-Wrench - volunteers service bicycles and dispense bicycle wisdom at community events.
  • Community events! Corvallis Spring Roll, Pedalpalooza, Annual Bike Swap, World Car Free Day . . . and an exciting announcement for 2017.

#OregoniansGive on #GivingTuesday is your day of giving - time, money, passion - to move bikes under more people. The bicycling community appreciates your support.

...

Putting a wrench in someone's hand and a working bike under a rider cultivates confidence and independence - tools anyone can use in our shop and in their everyday lives.

We know bikes can be transformative, not only for riders, but for our volunteers who spend time, love and care to restore bikes that will find a new rider. Bike stripping is a shop chore that needs doing, with the bonus that it is a great way to learn about bikes. Taking them apart is putting them together in reverse, and with these bikes, you can't go very far wrong.

Some volunteers take naturally to the process, like Tom of Home Life, Inc., a local organization that enhances the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities. Tom always goes straight to the stripper pile each time he visits, and his enthusiasm for the task lights up the room. Everyone in the shop is happier about whatever they're doing when Tom is in the shop.

Tom's hard work has paid off. After months of getting acquainted with all the tools and parts, Tom has started going for bikes to restore instead of recycle. "This bike is beautiful," Tom said of the princess bike he had in his stand, and he was already imagining its owner: "That little girl is going to love this bike," he added.

This is our bicycling community, people power moving each other forward.
