About FREE CAT CUDDLES! Become a C.A.R.E. Volunteer!

CAT VOLUNTEER - West Ridge Neighborhood of Chicago
C.A.R.E. is an all volunteer organization, and we can always use more help taking care of the cats who are awaiting adoption. Volunteers are responsible for cat care at our adoption center on weekday evenings, the entire weekend and holidays. Devoting time as a CAT Volunteer entails giving up a few hours per week to help the animals at the adoption center. Cat Volunteers pick a regular weekly shift that they can adhere to consistently. In order to volunteer, you must be at least 18 years of age and be able to commit to volunteering for at least 6 months. Minors over the age of 13 can volunteer with a parent or adult guardian present. We have many parent-child teams that volunteer, as it is a rewarding way to spend family time.

Cat Volunteer tasks cover the day-to-day care of the cats at the adoption center. We have daytime shifts available during the week in addition to evening and weekend shifts. We have no paid staff, so these are the tasks that are performed by each volunteer:

* Cleaning and disinfecting cages
* Grooming and socializing cats and noting behavior issues
* Cleaning litter pans and scoops
* Feeding
* Doing dishes
* Doing laundry
* Mopping floors
* Washing windows
* Taking out trash
* Volunteering at fundraisers
* Other opportunities such as Adoption Counselor are options after a probationary period
