About The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides a variety of opportunities for persons aged 55 and older to participate more fully in the life of their community through significant volunteer service. RSVP promotes the use of older persons as community resources in planning for community improvement and in delivery of volunteer service.

Senior volunteers are matched to assignments by interests, abilities, preferences and availability of the volunteers and included opportunities to respond to significant community needs. Volunteers are placed through or with volunteer stations (public agencies, private non-profit organizations or a proprietary health-care agency or organization). The assignments vary from one time per year to daily; some of the 50+ volunteer stations include: Mattoon Community Food Pantry, Charleston Tourism, American Red Cross, Mattoon and Charleston Schools, your LifeSpan Center and Mattoon YMCA.
