We are at a crossroads for environmental and social justice. Our coalition sees growing momentum and optimism, even in a small town like ours, for creating new ideas to improve our world. Most importantly, we are prepared and excited to facilitate this change.
Coalition for a Sustainable Cheshire (CSC) supports initiatives and projects that bring people and organizations together to implement environmentally sustainable, culturally vibrant, and socially equitable change that improves our quality of life. CSC is a young organization, forming just over a year ago in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Despite the challenges our communities face due to these public health and economic crises, we have been productive. This past fall, we donated over 80 composters to residents and community gardens, hosted Zoom webinars to educate our community about the value of diverting food waste from our landfills. Our Cheshire Pollinator Pathway project, at Lock 12, on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail continues with the main garden planting this spring. We coordinate with Bike Cheshire on paths to donate bicycles to our town's schools and bring bicycle riding into the school curriculum. Spring 2021 sees Sustainable Cheshire initiating the Great Global (solo) Trash Pick up as we collaborate with a diverse number of organizations, churches and non-profits for this Earth Day mission.
Your support will allow us to build on these successes and create future projects that promote equity, the environment, the arts, and sustainability.
