About The Key Book Club

The Key Book Club will help youth gain literacy and social skills, which will prepare them to be academically successful and to become contributing members of their community. Participation with adult and teen mentors will offer them positive role models who support the young people in this journey. The children will read grade appropriate chapter books and discuss the material in weekly small groups. They will also correspond with a pen pal. During the book club time the youth will participate in weekly group games/activities, a bi-monthly visiting reader series and monthly field trips.

We need volunteers to help with:

Key Book Club Visiting Reader

August 31, 2014 8:00pm
This task is filled or completed
Visiting readers are members of the community who will come to the book club to read to the children. The readers will also be open to having the children ask them questions about their careers and lives. Visiting readers allow children to see the value of continued reading through out life while also inspiring the youth to think about future goals. All visiting readers will have to complete a ICHAT form in order to be considered.
