For years, Missoulians have been working to understand the impacts of climate change, find local solutions, and inspire action region-wide. Climate Smart Missoula is the outgrowth of efforts to accelerate this work that has been led by community leaders, nonprofit organizations, University of Montana, St. Patrick Hospital, City of Missoula, and key businesses and stakeholders. Missoula is committed to emissions reductions and building climate resiliency, and Climate Smart is working to turn this commitment into results. Today, local climate efforts are more important than ever. We are growing a robust community “choir”, helping the choir to sing louder, to expand our reach to our neighbors, friends, and relatives, and to engage in building the community we want for all Missoulians, one that is an inspiring example to other communities. Formally launched in September 2015 as an initiative of the Missoula Community Foundation, Climate Smart Missoula’s mission is to foster partnership and actions to address climate change in our community.
We are small but growing in size and influence. We are bold and full of hope.
