Clarksdale Revitalization, Inc. has a mission of returning downtown Clarksdale to its position as the civic and cultural center of the community.
We are funded by local governments and individuals to address the redevelopment of Downtown Clarksdale, to develop cultural tourism as a vital economic engine for the community, to work toward infrastructure improvements and to recruit businesses to the downtown.
CRI was established in 2008, commencing activity on October 1, 2008. We received our letter of receipt from the IRS in December, 2008 and our letter of determination for 501c3 status on June 12, 2009 reflecting an effective date of May 8, 2008.
CRI has successfully created various incentives for private investment in Downtown Clarksdale and has assisted in the renovation of 15 buildings and with the planning for another 54 in various stages of planning and renovation.
We have completed the reclamation of the Sunflower River with the construction of a weir and have begun a system of hiking and biking trails around the river with the completion of phase I.
We continue to develop amenities such as our current project of developing a festival site in Martin Luther King Park involving the construction of a major stage and a playground.
