About Becoming A Civil Air Patrol Cadet

Join 30,000 youth nationwide who call themselves Civil Air Patrol Cadets. Have opportunities that you will never get anywhere else including: Front Seat Orientation Training Flights in a Cessna 182, leadership training, emergency services training, and the opportunity to achieve more than you have ever dreamed. The program uses a military model to build self-confidence, inter-personal skills, self-discipline, among much more.

CAP offers cadets age 12-18 many opportunities locally, statewide, and nationally. Below are a list of each and the activities offered:

Weekly meetings include: leadership training, military drill, military customs, wear of the uniform, rank and grade insignia, leadership challenges, leadership feedback, promotions, physical fitness, flag postings, parade rifle demonstration team, parades, basic cadet skills, and many many more activities.

Local weekend activities include: group campouts, hikes, backpacking, team leadership challenges, search and rescue training, emergency radio telecommunications for disaster events, first aid skills, and State Cadet Competition.

National activities (Yes these are for Cadets 12-18) include: National Flight Schools, science and engineering orientation academies, Air Force Space Command familiarization, national honor guard, Air Force Para-rescue Orientation, Air Force Specialized undergraduate pilot school, Cyber Defense school, Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing Academy, Model Aircraft and Remote Control Flight Academy, Air Force Civil Engineering School, Cadet Officer School, Engineering Technologies Academy, National Cadet Competition, Search and Rescue School, National Emergency Services Academy, International Air Cadet Exchange Program (Travel to another country), National Blue Beret (Largest Air Show in the world), National Honor Guard Academy, Engineering Technologies in Robotics Academy.
