About Weeding the Wildflowers

Explore the floodplain forest next to Champlain Creek while you work with other Nature Conservancy volunteers pulling the invasive plant Sweet Rocket. As the season progresses you will see a myriad of spring wildflowers, migrating songbirds, and butterflies, with bird and flower experts present to help with identification. Ives Road Fen is a large preserve and we are working in a far corner of it so this gives you a chance to see a part that you would never find by yourself. At the end of the day we will have a random door prize drawing. Snacks and cold drinks will also be served. For even more fun bring your friends! We provide all the equipment and training you need.

We will meet by North Raisin Center Highway 0.2 miles south of the intersection of Ives Rd and N Raisin Center Hwy south of Tecumseh (put those road names in your GPS and go 0.2 miles south when your GPS says you have arrived). This is NOT by the big Nature Conservancy sign on Sutton Road but by the small temporary sign on Raisin Center Highway, the same place we have always met. North Raisin Center Highway is Evans Street in Tecumseh. If you are new, be sure you are at the meeting area by 8:50 because you will never find the work area otherwise. We will finish by 1 PM.
