About Summer Camp Volunteer

Summer Camp is a series of 6-day/5-night summer sessions for children and adults with medical conditions or disabilities. CAMP recruits volunteers to assist with all summer sessions. Each session runs Sunday – Friday and overnight stay is required. This program is located at our Camp CAMP facility in Center Point, Texas, and volunteers are responsible for their own transportation.

CAMP provides a thorough orientation and continuous training for this program. CAMP’s training teaches volunteers how to work with individuals who have medical conditions or disabilities - including child development, hygiene and personal care, behavior management, medical diagnoses, and CAMP policies and procedures. Training is mandatory for all new and returning volunteers. Volunteers can earn up to 99 service hours per session.

Volunteers spend their week with a camper, helping them with personal care needs, and assisting them with activities such as horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, arts & crafts, outdoor cooking, archery, sports & recreation, nature, night activities, and much more! The most rewarding experience at CAMP will be the friendships formed with fellow counselors and campers.
