About Outreach Volunteers need - Help inspire 100 young women to go into STEM

ChickTech is a multi-generational community supporting women and girls to become technology creators.

We are dedicated to retaining women in the technology workforce and increasing the number of women and girls pursuing technology-based careers. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events to empower, support, and increase the confidence of women and girls. Through our events, ChickTech builds community, empowers participants to see themselves as leaders, and provides networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing high tech industry.

We are looking for General Outreach Volunteers- Chick Tech is looking to inspire young women to go into STEM, with interactive events and a mentorship program. ChickTech is originally from Portland and has now expand to the Bay Area. We have a few dedicated volunteers who are working hard to Kick off a year long program.

The current focus of the Bay Area chapter is ChickTech:High School, a comprehensive year-long program introducing 100 girls per city to technology, the fun and powerful things you can create with it, and related careers. The year kicks off in a university engineering department with a 2-day event, where the girls create a hardware or software project in one of 7 offered workshops. Then, throughout the year, we hold workshops and company visits to get them fully immersed in the technology community in their area. We also provide mentors and ChickTech-exclusive internships. All workshops are hands-on and project-based so that the girls come out of each with a sense of accomplishment and long-lasting confidence in their tech abilities. Our program is free to participants, and we rely heavily on volunteers and sponsors to make it a success.
