Chicago Filmmakers has been the champion for diversity in media arts in Chicago for over 40 years. In a world filled with 24/7 news and noise, we amplify the voices of those who too often go unheard.
Through filmmaker services, grants to digital media artists, classes in digital filmmaking, and independent local screenings, Chicago Filmmakers provides a platform for stories that are rarely seen in mainstream media.
Chicago Filmmakers Youth Media classes and summer camps help emerging filmmakers find their voice and share it with others.
Chicago Filmmakers is home to Reeling, the second-longest running LGBTQ+ film festival in the world, and The Onion City Experimental Film + Video Festival, and weekly screenings of mostly local, independent film and video works.
And now, Chicago Filmmakers is taking the next exciting step! We have purchased a firehouse, which will be our new location for classes and screenings, as well as the headquarters for our film festivals. The firehouse is fittingly located in Edgewater, a neighborhood that prides itself on diversity and inclusiveness.
Our future home needs a lot of work, and you can make a real difference! The firehouse renovation requires major interior construction. When we move in, we hope to have a beautiful screening room in the firetruck bay, new equipment and meeting spaces, as well as expanded classrooms for our students.
Please donate today and help to give Chicago a new center for diversity and literacy in media arts. Your support will amplify the voices of those who too often go unheard.
