About Board Member Position (Volunteer)

Mission
The Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival (CCCF) is a nonprofit charity with the mission to promote and present contemporary circus arts in the United States and to serve as a resource for local, national, and international circus artists, organizations, enthusiasts, and audiences.
CCCF is looking for dedicated, talented individuals to join our board of directors.
The Board supports the work of CCCF and provides mission-based leadership, strategic governance and support for fundraising. Board membership is a volunteer, non-paid opportunity.
Specific Board Member responsibilities:
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as she develops and implements the CCCF strategic plan
• Attend monthly board meetings and review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.
• Meetings are monthly, generally on the first Friday of the month. Meetings are either in person or via conference call. Occasionally a monthly meeting is skipped due to holiday or other scheduling issues.
• Represent the organization to stakeholders; act as an ambassador for the organization
• Serve on committee(s) or task force(s) and take on special assignments as needed
• Approve CCCF’s annual budget, review reports, review material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting legal and fiduciary responsibilities
• Work with the Executive Director and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
• Participate in fundraising efforts.
• GIVE: Make a financial contribution to the organization in the form of an annual donation ($250 minimum)
• GET: Reach out to your communities and networks to bring $2,000 - $10,000 in contributions to the organization. Contributions could be from individual or corporate donors, seeking out and applying for foundation or corporate grants, securing in-kind donations for services or materials, obtaining Festival sponsorships, or selling program ads to name a few. We recognize that board members may come from varying socio-economic backgrounds, so the GET may be achieved in varying ways.
• Sell benefit tickets for special events and fundraisers.
• Promote the purchase of Festival tickets.
• Volunteer for at least one special event before the festival and represent CCCF during the festival.
