About Chess Club Assistant/Tournament Assistant

Assist club coach in a classroom with instruction and overseeing students playing chess. This is an important component of the program as clubs range from 20-100 students. Chess clubs meet twice a week after school for one hour. Tournaments occur from January through March and take place on Saturdays.

Kristen meets with each volunteer candidate to assess logistical needs and placement options. There is a background check and some school districts require more detailed information that may have a cost for the individual.

Each chess club can use an assistant or more than one, depending on the club size. You will be tasked with following up on the day's lesson with students who implement that day's lesson in playing chess. Volunteers help execute lessons and mentor players.
